Creating Shakespeare!

Hamlet famously declares, "The play's the thing." But as any amateur or professional actor can attest, staging a full theatrical production is an incredibly daunting task.

The art of theater demands meticulous teamwork, planning, and structure. From selecting the right play to tackling issues such as set design, costumes, props, lighting, and sound, there's a multitude of considerations before the cast can even be chosen.

Transforming into a character is just the start for actors, they must then conjure up a world of emotions and situations that feel as real as a hug from grandma. It's like building the ultimate rollercoaster ride that will take the audience on a journey they'll never forget. The goal? To have the crowd cheering, laughing, or weeping in the palm of your hand, feeling every emotion right alongside the performers. Again, no small task.  How then do we achieve these goals in the short span that a typical show has to cast, rehearse and perform?

Shore Shakespeare is excited to offer a series of multi-sessions workshops focusing on Shakespeare, acting, and theatre in general. Each of the three workshops is valuable individually, but together, they provide a comprehensive journey from examining a script as an actor, director, or designer, to shaping a character or vision, and finally bringing that character to life on stage. The workshops will delve into one of Shakespeare's most intricate works throughout the series – Hamlet. Registration is free and open to all!
